Pierangelo's research-led teaching brings topical research knowledge and real world challenges to the subjects that he teaches. He specialises in measuring the business value of digital technologies looking at how to best optimise the use of digital technologies for a given application and at the implications and at the value generated for the adopting organisation/user.
Pierangelo's work contributes to these SDGs
Pierangelo's open access book Disrupting Buildings defines a deep renovation digital ecosystem for the 21st century. To meet the goals of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change will require a transformation of construction processes and deep renovation of the extant building stock. It is widely recognized that ICTs can play an important role in construction, renovation and maintenance as well as supporting the financing of deep renovation. Supporting SDG Targets 7 , 7.1. 9, 9.4, 13.1
This open access book The Future of Work is a timely exploration of some of the challenges and prospects for the future of work from two main perspectives: how work is changing and how to prepare for work in the future. An evidence-based assessment of these topics offers some critical perspectives that challenge old assumptions and opens up emerging trends and possibilities for work in the future. SDG Targets 1.4, 5.A, 8.2, 9. 9.3
Digital Towns Accelerating and Measuring the Digital Transformation of Rural Societies and Economies. This open access book explores the digital transformation of small and rural towns, in particular, how to measure the evolution and development of digital towns. In addition to access to resources, competition from urban and global markets, and population trends, rural communities present lesser access and use of digital technologies and have lower digital competencies and skills than their urban counterparts. Supporting SDG Targets 8.1; 9.3
Teaching

The module helps students to develop an understanding of cloud computing in the overall strategy of businesses, and to examine the impacts of cloud computing for individuals and society. Topics include: the impacts of cloud computing; Ethics, Responsibility and Sustainability in cloud computing and emerging topics in cloud computing cloud security, privacy and identity.
Supporting SDG Target 7.3 - Double the improvement in energy efficiency and Target: 9.1 - Develop sustainable, resilient and inclusive infrastructures
Applied Systems Analysis This module features a SDG oriented design thinking challenge integrated across three modules. This course helps students to develop an understanding of advanced aspects of Systems Analysis. Topics include: the role of a systems analyst; the use of computer-aided systems engineering (CASE) tools; individual and group interviewing techniques and skills; alternative requirements determination techniques featuring teamwork, collaboration and effective leadership. Increasing global awareness and appreciation of the importance of place, identity and culture in a global context.
Supporting SDG Target: 16.7 - Ensure responsive, inclusive and representative decision making and Target: 8.2 - Diversify, innovate and upgrade for economic productivity
